Mr and Mrs James Keeble of Atkins formerly of Rolfe will observe their 25th wedding anniversary with an open house at Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church Atkins Iowa on Sunday June 27 from 2 5 p.m. Children of the
Sunday services at Sunset Hill Manor were led by Father O Rourke with the Dale Wagner family Mrs W G Taylor and Mrs Goldie Luft assisting. Mrs Luft played piano for group singing. Several town visitors attended on Tuesday afternoon.
The Rolfe Arrow reports a June 5 gathering at United Methodist Church Rolfe for Des Moines Township School alumni. About 80 attendees, 1926 graduates honored. officers elected Ruth Cooksey president Opal Ryen vice president Marie Miller secretary treasurer. long-ago teachers recognized. Earl Cooksey funded a cake. guests traveled from nearby towns. conversations filled the evening.
A Social Security representative will be at the Pocahontas County Courthouse from 9 30 a m to noon on Tuesday June 22. The event is listed among local notices.
Devotions and meeting in Mrs. Johnnite Loss's absence discussed parsonage cleaning begun. A Bicentennial Community Church Service set for June 23 at 7 30 am at the Legion Hall with Faith Circle in charge. Skit Things Remembered sung, volunteers named, offering taken and prayer ended.
A city couple celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary with a money gift to the Nielsens and a steak fry. Attendees included families from Minneapolis Washta Gilmore City Mallard and Rolfe with June birthdays noted. A Bridgettes Club dessert and contract bridge event occurred at Betty Spencer's. The Christiaensen family reunion gathered 46 relatives in Rolfe with attendees from multiple states and towns.
In Laurens an open discussion is planned by Women of Laurens about the Carnegie building and its use as a museum. The meeting will cover advantages and disadvantages with input from John Horton of the state museum board. A social hour will follow with refreshments provided by local members.
Mrs James Hunt reports on four grandsons with careers and honors. Jim Hunt of Cedar Rapids finished Jefferson High School as an honor student and joined Progressive Manufacturing full time after an apprenticeship. James Carrier of Joliet Township High School earned Illinois State Scholar honors and will serve in the Navy in a nuclear program. Don Walker of Fort Dodge graduated Trinity Bible Institute and plans to move to Iowa to serve in an Assembly of God church, with a young son. John Hunt, 14, became an Eagle Scout on May 22. Mr. and Mrs. Hunt congratulated all four despite not attending activities.
Arnold Wold entered Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames for surgery after a fall. Mrs. Stan Whitmore was discharged from Emmetsburg hospital. Mrs. Ed Baker remains hospitalized in Humboldt County. A patient at Regional Reepitad in Fort Dodge was admitted after a hip fracture at her daughter's home. Mrs. Jack McDonald hospitalized at Pocahontas Community Hospital. Todd Gardewine treated at Humboldt Memorial Hospital after surgery.
