The Bradgate WSCS held a Wednesday afternoon gathering at the Bradgate Methodist Church. Mrs. Kenneth Dayton presided during the 15 minute meeting as Mrs. Esther Cur tions and others participated in the program and discussion.
Fifteen 4-H members from Pocahontas County will attend the State 4-H Conference June 21 to 24 at Iowa State University in Ames. The theme Pursuing Excellence features speakers including U.S. Senator Jack Miller and Marilyn Van Derbur Miss America. Bruce Frevert of Pocahontas seeks a state 4-H office while delegates include Jane Peterson Jane Fischer Barbara Hartsock Barbara Scott Don Trexel Tom Pohlman Doug Harrold and Wayne Beneke. The pre conference workshop covers leadership training and the state chorus features Marvyl Johnson Margie Flaherty Donna Jeffers Joan Patee and others. Local social notes mention visits and anniversaries of area residents amid weekend travels and summer sessions.
Dinner guests Sunday included Mr and Mrs Jim Cruickshank with David Torgerson and family from Humboldt and Rollin Cruickshank of Plover. Eldon Ham hosted Myron McFarlin in Mason City. Jean Kuklentz remembered as former Jean Hoffman. Iowa Texas dinner reunion in Spencer for winter Texans. Sioux Falls visitors Mrs Don Wallin Brian and Denise stay with Mrs Eldon Sennett. Keith Chapman of Glidden visited his mother Hattie Chapman and joined a local golf event. The Simonson family and guests visited Luverne Minnesota with Mrs Herbert Halvorson.
Town Council met on June 6 1967 by mayoral call. Present were Mayor Fred McKim and councilmen Jerry Robinson Dick Schott and W V Spencer. Absent were Paul Biedermann and Johnis Logs. The council approved salary increases for Vernon Marine and two clerks, granted cigarette permits to Jerry Hughes and Eil lan DeYoung and Betty Metz upon meeting requirements, and approved standard utility and maintenance expenditures. The meeting adjourned on the mayor's call with Fred McKim as mayor and Evelyn A. Leadley as clerk.
