Rolfe Centennial Celebration car vans announced for weekend
A series of evening car vans for the Rolfe Centennial Celebration will begin this Friday and Saturday evenings. Dr and Mrs R B Ranney and Bob returned home Saturday after Richard Ranney’s graduation at the Iowa College of Dentistry in Iowa City. Jerry Rickard, son of Everett Rickard, earned a varsity track letter at the University of South Dakota. Terry Heathman of LeRoy Minnesota came to help his uncle on the farm this summer.

Tornado Hit Plover and Havelock Areas Sunday
Twenty years ago Plover and Havelock suffered the worst damage among neighboring communities when a tornado moved in Sunday evening. Monday evening Mrs. Bennie Hilton nee Jenalee Hansen was honored at a community shower in the Methodist Church parlors. Carol Shimon attended Des Moines graduation exercises with Johna Dean Watson as a former Rolfe classmate.

Heat wave eases as Iowa records sharp temp swing
A 106 degree peak in a June heat wave drops to 36 degrees by Tuesday morning in Iowa. J B Kent travels to Des Moines to join son Dolliver Kent on a wheat field tour in western Kansas. A barn on the B J Lehnus farm north of Rolfe burned and about 200 baby chicks were lost. Travel west slowed when a bridge near Havelock Laurens was cut for a dredge boat. Community events include a Rolfe band concert and family gatherings at Lake Okoboji Spirit Lake area with relatives visiting Pocahontas and Enteri residents.
