Battery of startling power drives plot on mountainside
Larry Davenport, an author, invents a powerful electric battery and meets Grimstead on a California mountainside after his car breaks down. Grimstead persuades Davenport to sign an agreement to develop and market the battery. Gardiner, Grimstead's aide, drafts the contract and plots profit over Davenport's ideals. Burton, Grimstead's daughter, admires Davenport and schemes as Davenport pretends alignment. Simmins, Davenport's ally, attempts to steal the signed paper. Grimstead counters and drugs them. Gardiner steals away with car and battery, then crashes over a broken bridge.
