Winners of Pocahontas County Rural Electric Essay Contest

Rolfe Routs in Openers as Havelock Edges Little League
Rolfe Little League opened the season June 2 at a new field, losing 8 to 3 to Havelock with Paul Tange hitting a solo homer. In girls softball, Rolfe lost 19 to 9 to Havelock in the opener, with Linda Hughes outstanding on defense and Smith and Marine pacing the offense. The girls later beat Swea City 20 to 9 in five innings to begin the summer sectional tournament, featuring Hughes and Smith homers and several key triples. They advance to tonight’s Gilmore City game, with a district berth at stake. Mr and Mrs Jorge Huston traveled to Chicago Thursday evening.

Rites Held for William Snook in Manhattan Kansas
Final rites for William Snook longtime Rolfe resident were held Friday in Manhattan Kansas. He died May 20 1961 after an illness. He served in World War II and the occupation forces in Trieste. He was a plumber and member of the Pipe and Steamfitters Union Local 609. He leaves wife Patricia four daughters Teresa Jennifer Billie Jo and Lori one son Kevin and several siblings and relatives. Survivors include his parents six brothers and five sisters and many extended relatives.
