John Rickard and Susan Kay Minney wed at Crossroads Baptist Church Castle Rock Colorado in a 10 00 a m ceremony Saturday July 18 1977 The bride daughter Thelma Minney and Robert Minney The groom son of Charlotte Rickard Rolfe and the late H Keith Rickard The Rev H Hidding officiated The couple plans a Colorado Springs honeymoon and home in Broomfield Colorado The wedding party included Sharon Nattress and Janet Lorraine Minney. The reception followed for about 90 guests.
Sunset Sunday Worship Services were led by Rev. Asp with Mrs. Asp at the piano. Attendees included Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Thorson and Rev. Johnson. Mrs. Thorson played violin for special music. The monthly birthday party on Friday July 22 honored Elmer Tubbs and Claude White with cake and ice cream, and out of town visitors joined the gathering from multiple states and Canadian locations.
A Sunday gathering at the farm home of Mr. and Mrs. C L Zeman honored the Tom Triplett family of Montrose Colorado as guests of Mrs Triplett s parents. Other attendees included the Zeman family of Rolfe Cedar Rapids Pocahontas Milaca and Jackson Minnesota relatives from several towns attended including Bob Thompson. Future reunion hosts were Mrs Arthur Hansen and Mrs Gordon Hansen of Jackson Minnesota with older members Mrs Hannah Steen and Mrs Cecil Hansen present.
May Brinkman Caffray of Apple Valley California, last surviving child of Diedrick Brinkman and descendant of German homesteaders, visited Rolfe relatives. The Brinkman family, centenarian farmholders since 1871, included siblings Hattie Ives Caroline Olerich Dora Ives and Glyde. many pursued teaching, law, medicine, and farming. Mrs. Caffray's son Donald, a UCLA USC lawyer, was part of the trip. she holds numerous nieces and nephews and maintains ties to Rolfe through siblings and in laws.
