Brighter Egg Price Outlook Points to Gains in 1968
Iowa State University economist Gene Futrell forecasts higher egg prices for the rest of 1968. Prices paid to producers should rise about four to five cents a dozen in the next two months, with possible 8 to 10 cent gains if the laying flock declines. May production slipped slightly vs 1967, with seasonal declines expected into fall before a year-end rise. In early July regular Grade A large eggs averaged 21.6 cents per dozen, quality incentive eggs 27.1 cents.
