Publisher Robert Swan dies at 61 in Fort Dodge
Robert Swan longtime publisher of the Rolfe Arrow since 1950 died at Mercy Hospital Fort Dodge from a heart condition. Dr. and Mrs. T. S. Clark traveled from Des Moines to Hawaii to visit their son Tom Clark and family. Mrs. Clara Shimon enrolled her son Raymond at Iowa State University in Ames. O. E. Lehnus with Mr. and Mrs. P. L. Strong and Mrs. Alta Hewlett attended a CROP meeting in Des Moines.

In Pocahontas County extended rain slowed corn and soybean growth while oats remained unthreshed. Mrs Joe Lehman and baby Marilyn Kay returned from Lutheran hospital Fort Dodge. The Fultz family visited Brit Osking and B C Lehnus in Bloomfield and three sisters shared the trip. Aletta Grant begins her 34th year teaching rural schools in the fall term. Youths Head to Camp Then College Beside ISU Entry
A Tuesday morning plan sends a boy to YMCA camp for three days before entering Iowa State College. Seven more boys than girls attend high school this year with one post graduate, Marcella Howland. The Nain Ladies Aid met at the David Henderson home with Mrs. Art Kilbourne as hostess.

Virginia Calligan Celebrates Fifth Birthday After School
Forty years ago Virginia Calligan turned five and marked the day with a school party attended by kindergarten pupils and teachers Miss Bagstad and Miss Peters. Jos Biedermann and J T Rickard departed for Winningoshish Lake camp to hunt wall eyes for a few days before LeRoy Nelson left for Ames to begin his senior year in economic agriculture at Iowa State College.

Rolfe Post of the American Legion rented the Rolfe Opera House and is converting it into a Legion Hall. E E Wilcox attended the fair with a show herd of Hampshire hogs.
