Miscreants Caught Huskers Bluejays Aboard Corn Tale
Twenty five years ago Rev J O Wangberg caught bluejays partially husking his sweet corn to reach the worms. Deane Gunderson flew with Supt M D Anderson from Fort Dodge to Rolfe, his first private pilot passengership. Vera DeVaul Christabel Bregotti and Marjorie Ann Jones vacationed at the M W Webb cottage by the lakes with Sally Webb. Mrs Curtis Jones hosted a stork shower in Pollock home. Gary Pringle suffered a rusty pitchfork tine wound and received a shot for lockjaw. Mrs DuBois Sunday school class enjoyed a roller skating party at Twin Lakes.

Stanley Brock owner Franklyn Brinkman and Rosemary Williams arrived to spend a week with Glyde Brinkman in Akron Ohio and Atlanta Georgia guests. Beckord Hatchery staff and families enjoyed an all day lake outing at Maywood hosted by Shirley Thornton. Fremond Nielsen underwent knee obstruction surgery on July 11 at Nichols General Hospital Louisville Kentucky. Earl Young and son Jimmy visited grandfather in Gilmore City. Chris Knutson Humboldt visited Cruickshank family in Rolfe. Sally Thompson Rolfe made Drake College honor list with B plus average spring 1944.

Nuss Names Son James Lewis Acknowledging Grandfather
Thirty years ago Mr and Mrs Clarence Nuss named their new son James Lewis in honor of his grandfather L H Howe. Corn sold for 50c on the local market with government loaned 46c to the farmer.

Fire ruins Ottosen area and local injuries noted
Last week a major fire damaged the Ottosen area. Louie Schonberger’s young son sustained a painful foot injury. Reports also mention a street accident in front of Jones harness shop involving L. J. Shaw and Miss Louise Watson. A woman, Mrs. H C McCray, dislocated her shoulder after a Chautauqua return.
