In August 1901 New York City recorded 724 sun stroke deaths in one week as heat waves swept the metropolis. Australian bush fires last fall caused wide damage while shifting winds helped save several towns.

Sunday school and Luther League will be the only services next Sunday. The Ladies Aid Society meets at Mrs. E B Thompson’s home Thursday afternoon June 14. The church motto quoted emphasizes Christianity as the basis for civilization.
Iowa State College extension soils specialist J. L. Boatman says legume crops can yield as much or more per acre than corn and improve soil fertility when inoculated and residues returned. He cites figures showing higher net returns from legumes under a good soil management program, with per acre value rising with higher corn yields.
District Court of Pocahontas County Iowa orders that depositors claims based on check and saving accounts and time and demand certificates shown in the bank books are admitted. Holders of time and demand certificates must present them before dividends. Other claims must be filed with the examiner in charge in Rolfe or the Pocahontas County Clerk by September 1 1932 or be barred.
