R. H. S. hosts a pep gathering before the Plover Rolfe game with Lucile Everson joining as a guest. Richard Melson defends pep traditions, and Coach Evans urges full effort against Plover as students prepare for the Twin Lakes Conference trophy presentation.
Miss Latra Hjelm visits Des Moines while Mrs. Nowack recovers from wall stone surgery in Rochester Minnesota. Harold Crowell attends Order of the Eastern Star installation in Pl over and Laurens Laurens area hosts business and social visits. Mrs. Hendricks returns to Rolfe after days with daughters. Redfield funeral attendance. Silver Link Lodge officers installed in Fonda with Whitmore as chauffeur.
Havelock Methodist Church notes Rev. GC L Day as pastor. Sunday School at 10 00 am Morning Worship Epworth League 1 1 04 7200 pm. Services and activities listed will be carried out next week unless announced. If you have no church home you are urged to worship with us and you will be welcome.
Mr and Mrs Francis Jacobsen welcome twin daughters born Saturday January 19. They are first-born grandchildren of Bert Jacobsen and first great-granddaughters of S J Cole, and first daughters in the Alberts family. Mrs Will Smith assists at the Jacobsen home. Congratulations.
Jos Wilson and his installing staff traveled from Pocahontas Tuesday evening of last week to install the newly elected officers of Havelock.
Lodge No 537 10 0 F officers listed with roles for 1835 include P N G Thomas R Jones and Noble Grand Vincent Keerbs. Busy Bee Lodge D of R officers installed by Mrs George Waters with names Daisy McVey Mary Waters Goldie Ralle and others. Attendees from Pocahontas and Kapow, over 1000 present, prizes awarded and lunch served by committee.
A Parone Teacher Association gathering featured a German evening with a program of games and a prize draw. Attendees praised the event with high scores by Mrs Claud Wilson and Mr FL Ferguson earning top and consolation prizes among a night of socializing and contests.
Floyd Smith narrowly escaped death last Friday evening when his vehicle skidded on an ice covered highway. Blinded by approaching headlights he swerved into a ditch, toppled a large electric light pole and several fence posts, and finally halted in a pasture.
A fragmented report describes a man named Smith injured in an incident involving a Plymouth car near Havelock between here and Mallard on Primed No. 17. He lost consciousness and was taken to Dr Kenneth Punter for treatment after his leg injury.
