Colorful learning and weaving in class project

The Red class reads about young citizens while the Whites study Indigenous cultures and the Blues learn about Danny and his dog. An art lesson involved weaving mats with bright colors and using primary and secondary colors. Complimentary color mats stood out as the brightest in the activity.

Fifth Grade Week Summary at School

In art they made winter scenes in groups. Steven Graeber and Dennis Hansen conducted chemistry experiments. Students had tests in health social studies English science arithmetic spelling and maps of the Middle Atlantic and Southern states. Readings included Bibe the Blue Ox and Paul Bunyan’s ox.

Eskimo Themed Learning Unit Sparks Winter Imagination

Students explored Arctic stories and crafts featuring Eskimo dolls and ice fishing scenes. Mrs Graeber shared a fur Eskimo doll while children colored Eskimo girl figures and learned numeracy through a counting exercise with eleven students producing perfect papers.

Little Ideas club elects officers for second semester

The Little Ideas club met last week and elected officers for the second semester. Karen Ann Collins is president, Janet Behrendson is vice president, Erma Hopkins is secretary, Bonnie Johnson is reporter. Students study the Southern States in social science and read stories from South Carolina and the Everglades.

The eighth grade completed science books and begins Health while seventh graders study Canada in geography and Iowa history. Bruce Beckord was absent two days. Julie Bielefeldt had a Saturday birthday and treated classmates with candy bars. Rolfe Junior High beat Gilmore City by two points in overtime with Larry McVey scoring the final two. Gary Streit led scoring Friday with 14 points, Denny Leadley had 10. Next week Iowa Pupils tests are scheduled.
