Rolfe Wins Annual Debate From Laurens High
The Rolfe and Laurens high schools debated at the Rolfe opera house last Friday. Laurens lacked a full crowd due to cold weather, but Vernon Barnheiser of Laurens and Elva Lemon led Rolfe’s team with Donald Cornell and Clyde Charlton. Judge Caspare Schenk, a Des Moines attorney, ruled for Rolfe’s side in a cordial, respectful contest on the minimum wage question, highlighting the strong arguments and poise of both squads.
