Burglar raid on Local Oil Station Falls Short
Burglars broke into the Standard Oil Station near town last Friday night leaving a sledge hammer and chisel, but failed to crack the safe's combination. A Winchester pump gun disappeared from the scene and burglars also entered the store earlier but exited without leaving marks. The station manager Leon Harris notes the attempted job may reflect a desperate grasp for cash and the intruders were likely deterred by a faulty dial mechanism.
