Department of Agriculture bulb station at Bellingham Washington has developed seven hybrid lilies from crosses among Humboldt Leopard and Parry lilies. A hoard of silver coins dated 1400 to 1605 was unearthed in Elland England by Allan Wilson when he dug up a large urn containing 1 176 coins.

The library board met Monday with Mrs. Will Boysen presiding and approved new open hours. Monday 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Wednesday 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Thursday 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Friday 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Saturday 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

Auxiliary Meeting Advances Local Legion efforts

The American Legion Auxiliary unit met Monday at Mrs. Will Smith’s home. President Verna Waters led as members sent Christmas cards to about 20 seniors and ill members. The group voted to donate 10 to the local post for repainting the Legion Hall. Lunch followed. Olive Waters, Secretary.

Havelock junior high boys beat Curlew 15 to 7 while Curlew first stringers won 37 to 16. Havelock girls defeated Curlew 37 to 16. Bradgate teams travel to Havelock for a Wednesday twin bill on the local court.

The Rebekah lodge held a card party at the I O O F hall with 40 attendees. Progressive 500 provided entertainment. prizes awarded to Mrs. Pearl Mick and Mrs. Emma Johnson in the women's division, Will Brazier and Will Crawford in the men’s, Brown Waters won the traveling prize, and a lunch was served. Out of town guests included Mr. and Mrs. H N Hamilton of Rolfe and Mr. and Mrs. Thos Jones of Plover.

Birthday Party Honors Betty Huseby at Home

Mrs Rena Huseby hosted a Monday afternoon party for her daughter Betty to mark her sixth birthday. A group of eight girls enjoyed games and contests then shared lunch.
