Potatoes Bring Big Returns for Iowa Grower Sedlacek
C L Fitch cites F J Sedlacek of St Ansgar as a model of success in hard years. In 1919 Sedlacek produced 16 500 bushels of Rural potatoes on 80 acres and sold for over 25 000. He blends livestock farming with onions and potatoes, using excellent seed and cultivation methods. His farm is one of the state’s best equipped, with potential for 200 acres of potatoes in a single season. Mitchell county has vast similar land suited to potatoes onions and cabbage.
