Snowy Weekend Delays Roads and Farm Work Persist
The area saw a thaw followed by heavy snow adding about a foot and blocking roads. Police and crews labor through the night opening routes while schools close and farmers note moving time on the farms despite the beauty of fresh powder. Clifford Slayton drove graders from Pocahontas to Rolfe, clearing primary routes but many cars suffered rear-end damage in the effort. The piece reflects on the stark contrast between winter's grip and hopes for spring.
