George Washington Bruce 53, of Rolfe and Des Moines, died April 22 1926 at Congregational Hospital Des Moines after a two week illness from cerebral hemorrhage. He was born June 7 1878 in Old Rolfe, married Ella Wallace in 1894, worked as a butcher and in farming before living in Emmetsburg Manson Dunlap Fort Dodge and Des Moines. Survived by wife eight children, parents, brothers in Rolfe and Des Moines, one sister, seven grandchildren and many relatives. Funeral at Presbyterian church in Rolfe with Rev J P Lester and pallbearers Co P Lathrop P B Kelts Alfred Gadd George Salisbury T D Jones Ambrose Hansell. Interment Clinton Cemetery.

The program included a Miss Columbia’s Vision play by Mary L Jensen Shackleford and a bright comedy Not a Man in the House, plus musical numbers by Ila Fisher Florence Shimon E A Larson and R L Hudson. Federation Institute guidance by Mrs Miller and Mrs Middleton closed the sessions with community singing.
The Rolfe Woman's Club Music Department sponsors a Community Sing Sunday May 2 at 3 pm in the school auditorium with programs led by C. J. White and featuring the High School Orchestra, multiple solos by local performers, a saxophone solo, and talks by Mrs. G. Fred Smith and J. H. Walker. A community sing follows led by Mrs. White.

Pocahontas County Clothing Club leaders gathered in Pocahontas on Tuesday to receive guidance from Miss Marie Roberts of Ames representing Iowa State College. Attendees included Mrs. C E Lehnus Mrs Franklin Majorowicz Miss Margaret Johansen Mrs Wm Fisher Miss Marie Ryen Miss Sylvia Howe and others from Des Moines and Garfield townships. Roosevelt township was represented by the Biedermann sisters. Club work has grown, with thirty leaders from twelve clubs present, up from six clubs last year.
