L A Lyon of Cedar Rapids was a weekend guest in the Earl Ferguson home. A son arrived for Mr. and Mrs. Harold Bates on Thursday Feb 8. Numerous visits and illnesses are recorded including Mrs. I S Fisher’s serious illness and updates on recovering patients. A bakery hire announces James Adamson of Emmetsburg as the new baker at Jolliffe Bake Shop. A great grandson was born to Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Jennings of Bradgate on Feb 12.

Havelock residents report a busy week with visits from Fitz of Manson and trips by E R Waters and Oscar Johnston party. Marjorie Barth returns from Halfa while Edell Williams heads home to Toledo. The Foreign Missionary Society met and post activities included a Legion play in Palmer and a M E church supper planned for Feb 21. Senior Class Pictures Taken At La Algona

Auxiliary Luncheon Attended by Local Legion Auxiliary

Mrs J M Ralle and others attended a one o'clock luncheon and meeting of the county American Legion Auxiliary held in St Margaret's church social rooms in Rolfe Saturday. More than 100 attended and all reported a royal good time. A detailed account will be found elsewhere in this Arrow.

County Board Seeks Sheriff to Kill Unlicensed Dogs

The Pocahontas County Iowa Board of Supervisors authorizes the sheriff to kill any unlicensed dogs or direct deputies to do so when found. The move, approved February 6 1934, cites numerous sheep and livestock losses by dogs and follows Code Section 5448. Chairman R L Hudek signs the resolution.

Valentines Day Dinner and Prize Winners

Mrs Harold McVey and others led the ladies division with top and low scores while Mrs C Jones earned the booby prize in a event featuring a red white heart motif. Otto Keerles won high score in the men’s division and Mrs W W Hilton took the traveling prize. Mr and Mrs H N Hamilton of Rolfe attended as out of town guests and an excellent lunch was served by several hostesses.

Junior High Tourney Set for Havelock February 17

The Junior High School County Basketball Tournament will be at Havelock High School gym on Saturday February 17 starting at 9:00 a.m. The program lists Pocahontas versus Rolfe at 9:00, Fonda versus Plover at 10:60, Plover versus Laurens at 11:00, then Havelock vs the Rolfe Pocahontas winner at 2:00, and the Plover Laurens winner versus the Fonda Palmer winner at 3:00. Consolation Final is at 8:00 followed by the Championship Final at 9:00.
