The Presbyterian Missionary Society will meet next Wednesday afternoon February 18 at 2 30 in the home of Mrs J T Grant. Mrs C J Morrison will handle stewardship donations and Mrs W Li McIntire will present Missionaries of the Bible. Election of officers for the coming year will be held.
The Tuesday Club at White Home held an afternoon session at Mrs. C J White's residence. Mrs. C J Morrison led a lesson titled Men Maidens and Mantillas and plans for a luncheon in two weeks at Mrs M S Soth's home were announced.
Miss Lola Pirie daughter of Fay D Pirie achieved 63 words a minute with two errors in ten minutes and 90 wpm in a one minute test. The ten minute score qualifies her for the International Honor Society. Test overseen by Kathryn Holland of the society. Lola, a Plover high school graduate, stood out in music and basketball.
The Catholic Young People and the men of St Margarets Parish plan a pre Lent party in St Margarets Hall on February fifteenth. The event will feature games speeches music and sideshows with radio and seed corn prizes. Lunch will be served and all are welcome.
Eldon R Obrecht earned a Master of Arts degree from the State University of Iowa at the mid year convocation on Tuesday February 3. He has served as an instructor in the university music department since his June 1940 graduation. Buy Defense Bonds and Stamps.
The Methodist Church lists Sunday school at 10 a.m. Morning worship at 11 a.m. and M.L.Y. at 6:30 p.m. Choir practice Thursday at 7:30 p.m. A District Missionary Institute meets at Epworth church Fort Dodge on February 24 with Rev. Perry Hanson and Rev. Hiram Frakes speaking. Union Lent services begin Ash Wednesday February 18 at 7:30 p.m. at the Methodist church with Rev W F Schneck preaching. next week at the Presbyterian church.
J O Wangberg pastor announces Sunday school and Bible class as the only services next Sunday. Catechism class meets Saturday at 1 45 pm at the parsonage. During Lent Nain and Trinity Lutherans hold joint services Wednesdays at 7 45 pm beginning February 18 with Rev Lund preaching on Himself He Could Not Save. Watch for announcements.
