Rolfe High wins county declamatory contest in Rolfe
Eastern Canontas county schools competed in Declam a and county declamatory contest held in Rolfe on January 27. Des Moines Town, Palmer, Plover, Pocahontas and Rolfe high schools were represented by Barbara Melson Grace McEwen Byron Friend and Arlene Cook after replacements. Paul Ikkelson, Barbara Melson and Richard Kennedy tied in oratorical division. Melson lost one percent on final tallies. Plover won coast honors with one contestant in each division. Pocahontas and Des Moines tied for places with Rolfe.

Declamatory, oratorical, and dramatic events feature student competitors with honors earned in sub county contests. Kindergarten and first grade focus on subtraction and reading while preparing valentines. Music plans include Country Gardens by Grainger and upcoming 4-H and county contests. Hot lunches for Feb 15 week listed with staff roles.
