Mrs. A. D. Cleal joined by John Hull and family celebrated Christmas at West Bend with Byron Cleal returning from sea on furlough. Delores Nielsen hosted a church shower for her January 1 marriage to Glen Holtorf Pom ery. guests and musicians performed as festive decor and gifts filled a lace covered table. The American Home Study Club held a Christmas party December 18 with 20 members, a potluck lunch, carols, and a gift exchange led by Larry McMillin.

The Pocahontas County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with J M Bush as chair and members Onken Clark Ellis and Harrold present. They approved the annual report of W F Brinkman mayor and adopted a resolution authorizing I S Highway Commission to handle letting for F M and 3 N Farm to Market projects. They approved lease releases for Gilmore City School Board and Humboldt Savings Bank and indemnity bonds for Lincoln No 8 School District and Pirl Riches. They audited and allowed numerous claims and noted Christmas gratitude to residents. The meeting adjourned to February 17 1953 with further actions including tax sale certificate cancellation and insurance and contract bids.
