December DAR meeting and birthday notices in Rolfe
The Betty Alden Chapter D A R held its December meeting at Rosalind Sewell’s home December 9 with Pledge of Allegiance and American Creed. Lottie LaDow reported National Defense news and gifts valued at 202.30 were sent to a DAR school. Rosalind Sewell led a Williamsburg history program and hosted the gift exchange. A dessert lunch for 15 members and a guest preceded the meeting. Mrs. Jim DeWolf's 80th birthday was observed December 19 with about 100 attending open house in the Presbyterian Church parlors. Out‑of‑town guests included Ida Lynes of Montana and Leon Harris of Everly. A family gathering was held December 26 at the Wiegert home. The Brinkman Christmas dinner and gift exchange, a 1800s tradition, was hosted by Nellie Brinkman with many out‑of‑town relatives attending from multiple states and localities.

Beverly McCartan bride elect of Bruce Frevert of Lohrville received a mixed shower December 12 in St. Margaret’s hall. Corsages for the honoree and relatives were given, readings and music provided, gifts opened, and a luncheon served by local aunts and friends. Hospital patients Chester Hansen and Hazel Howland are listed, and United Presbyterian Women installed new officers on December 15 with Mrs. Roger Witt as president.
