Bot Fly Eradication Campaign Starts January
Last year about half the horses in Pocahontas County were treated for nose fly and bot flies. This year the Pocahontas County Farm Bureau and county veterinarians will run an extensive campaign with horse owners paying forty cents per horse, a two percent price cut from last year. County farmers report high dissatisfaction with last year’s treatment and early spring administration yielded better results. The method uses a capsule of carbon disulphide given to each horse.
