American Legion Auxiliary Social and Fundraising Drive

The American Legion Auxiliary met last Friday at Mrs. Fred Groves home for a social afternoon followed by a brief business session and lunch prepared with help from Mrs. Gene Thompson. Visitors attended and donations of used clothing and toys were requested to aid the needy. A separate note mentions Christmas seats for sale by Auxiliary members to support a worthy cause.

Christmas Program Delights School Audience

A fine Christmas program was presented in the school auditorium by the pupils of the local school on Thursday evening. The stage setting was in the traditional holiday style with festive decorations and seasonal songs.

Third to eighth graders performed plays and songs, with solo vocalists Lucile Fisher Luella Hess and Valeria Leutjen and readings by Glenn Pinkham.

Union Choir to Present Adoration Cantata at Plover Church

The Union Choir directed by Edward Lehnus with Ralph Mahlum as tenor soloist will perform the Christmas cantata The Adoration by George Devin at Plover Methodist Church on Sunday evening December 24. The eight o'clock program features multiple solos and choral selections culminating with portions from Messiah and Amen.

Sheep Killings Ruled by Marauding Dogs in Powhatan

Marauding dogs killed about 35 sheep and mauled 25 in Powhatan township last week. Owners B. B. Hubbell and George Bush reported losses of 20 and 15 head respectively. Damages claimed total nearly 625 dollars filed with Auditor Roy A. Johnson. Sheriff Hubert Kapsch led a wide-ranging investigation but the dogs remain at large.

Plover Presbyterian Church Notes on Christmas Activities

Plover Presbyterian Church led by Pastor Walter Rothwell announces a Sunday School at 10:15 a.m. Worship at 11:30 a.m. and a Community Bible Study on Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. A Christmas tree program will be held Saturday December 23 at 7:30 p.m. The Christmas worship service is Sunday at 11:30 a.m. and the Union Choir will present a cantata at the Methodist church Sunday at 7:30 p.m. Bible Study resumes Tuesday January 2 at 7:30 p.m.
