Funeral Rites Held for Mrs Floyd Seger in Pocahontas
Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon at 2 o clock in the Pocahontas Methodist church for Mrs Floyd Seger with Rev Robert Moss and Rev J R Kirby officiating. Burial followed at Summit Hill cemetery. Mrs Seger died December 11 at Lutheran hospital Fort Dodge after a stay since December 5. Born April 20 1886 in Shelby county she was married to Floyd Seger November 13 1906 in Pocahontas. They farmed in Minnesota before returning to Pocahontas county about 40 years ago. Survivors include her husband a daughter Mrs J W Anderson of San Antonio Texas a son George Swer of Fonda one sister Mrs Roy Seger of Pocahontas and five grandchildren. Also noted are two discharged soldiers sons Cyril Hotovee and Francis Milefchik from Fort Sheridan ill with mixed details. Sp 3.

Local Couples Mark 50th Wedding Anniversary
Mr and Mrs H H Winegarden long time residents observed their 50th wedding anniversary on December 16 Open house was held at their Pocahontas county home from 2 to 5 in the afternoon and 7 to 1 in the evening Mr Winegarden born September 20 1882 in Humboldt county came with his parents to Pocahontas county and has resided here Mrs Winegarden born March 7 1882 in Marshall county moved with her parents to Wrighty then to Pocahontas They were married December 20 1908 in Webster City and later farmed before retiring in 1948 They have one son Aldewin of Pocahontas who operates the Winegarden Oil Co and two grandchildren Robert and Connie Winegarden Also noted were community notices including a 78th birthday celebration for Mrs Christina Eberle and various church group meetings and officer elections for 1957 reflecting local civic life.
