Betty Jean Laurens daughter of Mrs. Vida Laurens married James Rolfe son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Rolfe on a Sunday ceremony. The church was decorated with white chrysanthemums and an entwined candelabra. The bride wore white lace with yellow rose accessories and a three strand pearl necklace. She was given in marriage by James Hixon. Ushers were Howard Spencer and Hixon's brother. The reception followed, with brides colors of blue and yellow and a weeklong trip pending after the wedding.

Laurens Man Herman M Nelson Dies of Heart Attack
Herman Marius Nelson, 63, died Friday afternoon at his Laurens home from a heart attack. He was found on a couch by his wife and later laid to rest at Laurens Cemetery after services at Hitchcock McKee Funeral Home and Laurens Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife Lenora, four daughters, a son Harris, 14 grandchildren, two brothers, a sister, and numerous relatives.

Garfield Township Farm Bureau held its annual banquet in the Rolfe Consolidated school's gymnasium. A large crowd enjoyed a three course meal served by the Rolfe Music Mothers. William Durbin of Gilmore City led the program as master of ceremonies. C. E. Helm from Swift Packing Co. spoke on This Is Our Problem, outlining the Freedom Forum goals. The event featured performances by Rolfe high school girls sextette and local musicians.

Mrs Zeman cut her right arm on a broken glass dish during dinner prep. A local doctor sutured a six inch wound. The arm is in a sling and Mrs Zeman and her son will stay the week with her parents.
