The County Christian Endeavor Convention met at the Presbyterian church over the weekend with a fellowship banquet hosted by the Missionary Society. Approximately 125 delegates from five towns attended, including Plover Pouthantas Laurens Gilmore City Rolfe. The event featured addresses by Everett Robie and Geo Cramer and closed with new county officers elected for the coming year. The next convention is planned for Laurens in March.
The Gerhardt Duo opened the lyceum course at the Des Moines township schoolhouse on Saturday evening December 4 drawing a fair crowd despite bad weather. The seniors and juniors who manage the course praised the program of musical numbers and clever impersonations. Fire hit the west part of town at the Abe DeVaul residence during a Sunday afternoon alarm. Smoke filled the attic and water doused the ruinous areas after the fire was located. furniture left outside helped limit further loss. Orrel Green owned the house and insurance covered both structure and furnishings. repairs were scheduled following an adjuster’s evaluation.
Local 973 Farmers' Union to hold its regular meeting at Des Moines township school on Tuesday evening December 14. Program includes community singings readings by Clifford Nielsen Loretta Shaw and Mr Merritt music from Elsa Cordes Ha Shaw Mable Mikalek Constance Meisenbach Victor Hermanson and more. Election of officers to follow and a performance of Mrs Temple's Telegram tomorrow night.
An executive meeting appointed Service and Social Civic and Governmental Affairs Agriculture Attendance and Publicity and Censor of Local Business Affairs committees. A membership contest divides East and West sides along Main Street with a banquet for losers. Contest runs to Jan 1 1927. West Side leaders are C M Patterson Henry Kirchner and Mrs A B Symes. East Side leaders Will Pattee Clarence Jensen and Cora Lighter.
The Ladies' Aid Society of the M. KE. church thanks all committee heads and contributors for the successful bazaar and supper. President, Aid Society.
The U C Club of D M T selects six girls Katie Peterson Jane Snook Margaret Jo Hansen Constance Meisenbach Lenora Meisenbach and Thelma Larsen to attend the Ames Short Course. A food sale bazaar is planned for Dec 11 at Wilkin Meat Market Rolfe to raise trip funds. The A C Club and W H L Club thank supporters for Farm Bureau sale proceeds to cover Ames expenses. ]]>
A plate supper with hot coffee and a program will be held at Kennedy school house on Friday evening December 17. Plates cost twenty cents for adults and fifteen cents for children. Ina Joliffe, Teacher, invites everyone to attend.
W S Taylor and his family moved from Des Moines to Mason City where National Biscuit Co expanded its wholesale distributing plant. Taylor earned a promotion with the company and is expected to lead the operation someday. Paul Carroll joined as billing clerk. The Taylors report liking Mason City. Mrs Temple appears in a light note.
A deal closed Saturday transferring ownership of the Nelson Hotel building to Mrs. Martha Nelson who becomes sole owner. Previously joint with Swan Anderson of Marengo, the dispute moved through courts while James Bruce acted as trustee. Nelson now runs a hotel in the second story and the property is seen as a solid revenue producer for the town. WAN Th Bren Fuller, an artist at falsifying, joins the scene in Mrs Temple's Telegram.
A subscription paper funds a fire siren after ongoing fire alarm misses prompted action. The city council agreed to demonstrations of different noise makers to identify the best value and potential supplier. Mild John Brown illustrates the modern proposal with Mrs Temple's Telegram noted.

The Women’s Auxiliary of the American Legion met December 6 at Mrs. Marvin Burroughs home. They planned Christmas gifts for veterans in hospitals and clothing for veterans' orphans. The article adds a saying about asking for cheaper prices.
Marion Bruce of Rolfe Iowa Arrow won first prize in a national contest for a piece titled My Impressions of Orange County. The award totaled $100 with judges noting the article covered beauty and production in Orange County well.
At Knights of Pythias hall the Woman's Club Child Welfare Department led a lively program. Mrs G T Pollock chaired with community singing and a vocal solo by Mabel Lighter- Field. Frances Warner Ames spoke on books aided by local dealers. Mary Watts Audubon discussed eugenics. A thank offering supported the Lookout Committee led by Ethel Taylor.

County Agent reports on 1,120 to 1,200 farm boys and girls visiting the International Livestock Show. They toured the exposition, noted 11,000 show animals, saw corn products and industry exhibits, and witnessed a parade of club members. Notable winners included Hampshire hogs and Angus cattle.
