Hopper Outlook Good In State Grasshopper Infestation
Dr. Carl J. Drake of Iowa State College reports the 1989 grasshopper survey shows heavy infestation from Pottawattamie county north along the Missouri River to Lyon county with scattered outbreaks elsewhere. Western areas benefited from vigilant control and baiting proved effective against crop damage. A fungal disease reduced hopper numbers in lowland areas.
