Community clubs schedule month of December in Rolfe

A dense list of meetings and events for local clubs. Dates range from December 6 to January 4 with activities at homes, schools, church basements, and the town hall. Spotveld to Teach Instrumental Lessons at Rolfe School

Mr Spotveld of Fort Dodge will visit Rolfe every Friday to give private instruction on wind and stringed instruments. The program ran for two years previously with positive student progress and band benefits. The district plans to expand the method, seeking more students and potentially a school band under Spotveld’s direction once personal development supports it.

Cement Plant to Run Full Capacity All Winter

The Northwestern States Portland Cement plant at Marble Valley near Rolfe will operate at full capacity through winter. Supt. H. Webster reports about 100 people are employed. The plant’s continued operation supports local industry and calls for home-made cement to aid Iowa road construction if road bond act is constitutional. The Pure Marble Valley rock quality is praised, and the community hopes for years of ongoing production benefiting the region.

Tuesday Club Luncheon Features Initiations and Music

The Tuesday Club held its second luncheon at the J. R. McIntire home. Nineteen members enjoyed decorated tables, cornucopia centerpieces, and a lunch that followed culinary contests. New members Mrs. Geo. O. Hauck and Mrs. Frank King were initiated. entertainment included contests and piano selections by Eldon Obrecht and Robert Obrecht, ending with a Christmas party planned for December 18 at Mrs. J. H. Engel.

Home Management Classes Set Meetings Across Pocahontas County

The Home Management program in Pocahontas county schedules its next series starting Monday December 10 with meetings in Swan Lake Cummins Marshall- Dover Cedar Colfax and other areas. Farm Bureau Unit Sets Meeting for Dec 10

The D M T Unit of the Farm Bureau will meet Monday evening at eight o clock in the school building. Meeting date moved from Dec 17 to Dec 10 to allow election of new officers before the county meeting. All members urged to attend.

Rolfe Community Christmas Program Highlights

Rolfe prepares city decorations with a large lighted Christmas tree on Garfield street and business houses adorned with trees. C. M. Patterson supplies small trees for display. On Saturday December 22 at 2 PM Santa Claus will distribute five hundred boxes of candy to local children.

Catholic Ladies Supper At St Margarets Church

The St Margarets Catholic Church ladies host their annual supper in the church basement on Thursday evening December 13. Menu includes roast chicken with dressing cranberry mashed potatoes gravy buttered peas salad pickles rolls berry pie coffee. Supper served at 5 30 p m with prices 50 cents and 35 cents. Auto Mix-Up Near Palmer Causes Multiple Collisions

Sunday evening a multi-vehicle crash on Primary No. 44 near the H. F. Clerich farm involved Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Patterson and Harold Himan of Palmer. Mrs. Patterson suffered bruises, Bert Peterson’s car bumped Harvey and Mrs. Peterson, and all parties escaped serious injury as snow limited visibility and four wheel brakes prevented worse damage.

Head On Into The Ditch Near Ames And Boone

Mr and Mrs James Bruce and Miss Isabell Were driving from Colfax when their car skidded on packed snow near Primary No 60 two miles north of the Lincoln Highway intersection. The car tumbled onto its side but passengers escaped serious injury. Mrs Bruce injured only lightly and Miss Isabelle unhurt. Mr Bruce had a finger cut. The vehicle was towed and started again, and the party continued to Webster City then home.
