Ruthven Iowa August 17 A company led by J G Manning of Clear Lake Iowa purchased Electric Park Lost Island Lake Ruthven from F J Tishenbanner and took possession. Manning a veteran amusement operator plans new roller coaster dancing pavilion speed boats and a modern hotel with electric lights and running water for the park. The Pocahontas County Day Picnic August 27 will proceed under the new management with special provisions to welcome Pocahontas county residents.

Lutherans to Open Hospital in Mason City
The North Iowa Lutheran Hospital Association plans St. Luke's Hospital Mason City starting the first part of September. The site bought in June will house the 25 to 30 bed facility once readiness and equipment are completed and patients can be admitted.

Pocahontas County Medical Association gathered in Gilmore City Tuesday with about eighteen local physicians and guests from Humboldt and Fort Dodge. Dr Hovenden of Laurens was elected president and Dr Everson of Plover secretary. A paper on Medical Ethics by Dr Smillie of Gilmore City was sent to the Iowa State Medical Journal for publication.

Fire at Kirkpatrick Home From Iron Left Plugged In
Five people describe an electric iron left attached in the Kirkpatrick home last Saturday afternoon starting a fire in the upstairs hallway. Fred and passerby Paul Carroll doused flames with water and carried out the burning ironing board rug and floor caught fire but no furniture. Damage was limited to burned floor and stair rail.

Big Dredge Works To Reopen Des Moines River Project
The large river dredge resumes activity in Palo Alto county moving downstream this week after three months idle near the old iron bridge on Section 1 Des Moines township. The nine foot deep fifty foot wide ditch runs twenty miles up river west of Emmetsburg to the Bradgate river bridge under a joint contract of Palo Alto Pocahontas and Humboldt counties. The project aims to reduce flood levels affecting about six thousand acres, with an estimated $95 000 cost. The dredge measures about one hundred feet in length and should finish by December 1 1921.
