Rolfe Chautauqua Ends With Financial Shortfall and Mixed Reviews
Rolfe’s tenth annual chautauqua closed with a sizable audience but a roughly $600 deficit. Receipts around $1,500 contrasted with about $2,300 in expenses due to substitutions and Cope’s late arrival. The event featured strong lectures though some musical acts underperformed and a substitute Hawaiian group drew mixed reactions. The board attributed shortcomings to illness and travel delays, not mismanagement, and noted the community still gained from the overall program.
