Drunk Driving Convictions Rise Sharply in Iowa
Iowa officials report a sharp rise in drunk driving convictions in the first half of the year with 1,124 license suspensions for DWIs by June, up from 580 in the same period last year. The Iowa Highway Patrol notes no special enforcement driving the increase. penalties rise to 300 for first offense, 500 for second, and 1,000 plus one year in prison for the third while licenses are revoked.
