A high school auditorium hosts an American Legion sponsored Home Talent Barn Dance on Tuesday evening. The show features impersonations of radio stars, square dances, hillbilly music, a German band, and acts by Lem and Martha and the Norse Sisters. Two performances are planned at 7 15 p m and 9 15 p m with potential future radio celebrities sampling the stage.
The Young Democratic Club of the district will meet Monday evening April 29 in the assembly room of the courthouse. J W Varmm of Rockwell City will deliver the address of the evening. Young democrats and prospective attendees are invited to attend.
The Garfield Township Farm Bureau unit holds its April meeting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. Brinkman on Thursday evening April 25. The program is led by Girls 4-H Clubs and the girls will serve a lunch after the program.

Rev T 5 Bassett will preach Easter Sunday with morning worship at 11 00 and the Young People story contest in the evening. The church notes cooperation after a successful day and reports a committee investigating building repairs this summer.

Trinity Lutheran church held a Sunday reception at the parsonage for new members who joined that morning. The event featured a noon dinner and an informal program with musical selections and greetings from church societies, led by Rev. J. Q. Wangberg and I. P. Lomen.
Ernest Williams died at his daughter’s home on Wednesday morning April 24 1985 from a heart attack. He was about 450 years old and survived by two daughters Mrs Alfred Sanding and Mrs Howard Sheeley a son Verne Williams of Coffeyville Kansas and a sister Mrs Harry Dickey now of Fort Dodge. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 PM from McIntire funeral home.
The Rolfe High School Music Association expresses sincere thanks to the public for generous financial aid received through purchases of Music Tags last Saturday.
Easter Sunday visits include H N Hamilton at the Paul Lothian home in Palmer and Mr and Mrs G S Shriner at Dan Urquhart home in Bodmin. Ames and Des Moines travelers attend events while locals gather at a Wienie roast and Y M C Club meeting.
Pastor Rev H A Sinning reports 275 at morning service and 243 at Sunday school last Sunday. Cantata in the evening drew a good crowd and highlighted choir talent. Services next Sunday return to regular hours with morning worship at 10 and evening at 7:45. Junior and Christian Endeavor meet in afternoon and evening sessions.
Burglars forced the front door of Petersons Clothes Shop and stole about 65 suits 10 topcoats 12 dress pants a pair of shoes a Gladstone bag and a pile of shirts. Estimated value around 1200 dollars. No clues as to suspects.
The Presbyterian church choir presented the Easter cantata Life Eternal to a good audience Sunday evening. The piece featured choruses two part songs solos and varied voices. The choir has grown with five basses five tenors five sopranos and four altos with Miss Miriam Ives at the organ.

All ladies of Rolfe and the surrounding community are invited to the County Conference of Women’s Clubs at the Rolfe Presbyterian church on Friday April 27 starting 10 30 a m A pie lunch will be served at noon with the afternoon session resuming at 1 30 p m The invitation extends to non members and the convention program appeared in last week’s Arrow.
The 57th annual Pocahontas County Sunday School Association convention will be at the Presbyterian Church in Pocahontas all day Tuesday May 7. O G Herbrecht of Des Moines will assist with the program and a noon covered dish luncheon will feature. A large attendance from county Sunday schools is expected.
Mr and Mrs S Rikenberry spent Sunday with relatives and friends in Spencer. Mrs Mikenberry remained for a visit until Tuesday evening. Mrs Frank Kirkpatrick who had visited in the QO M Chaney home at Spencer returned with Mr Kiken berry Sunday.

Funeral services for Miss Agnes Lidith Bratton were conducted Monday at the McIntire Funeral Home with Bassett of the Methodist church officiating. Born March 26, 1883 near Toledo Iowa, she lived in Rolfe since 1910 and died April 18 1935 at age 52. Survived by four sisters and three brothers, services included piano by Mrs Bassett, organists, and pallbearers Ivey Lathrop Rogers Gad Patterson and Frederickson. Burial followed in Clinton Garfield cemetery Rolfe Iowa.
H C Moore, secretary of the Farmers National Farm Loan Association of Palmer, announced loans could be obtained at 4.1 percent. An April cut from 5 to 4.8 percent and an April 10 quarter-point reduction followed by a bond market reopening. The lower rate aims to aid farmers if Congress acts, while Commissioner loans stay at 4 percent. Miss Iva Lindstrom of Fort Dodge visited Ed Quinsland's home Sunday.

Mr and Mrs Henry Thompson celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Monday April 22 1985. A 10 am service at Nain Lutheran Church was followed by a two course dinner at the Presbyterian dining room with yellow and white decorations and a large 50 candle wedding cake. Relatives and friends attended from Estherville Ringsted Swea City and nearby towns.
Mro and Mrs Ralph Cronk of Cedar Falls spent the weekend with Mrs Bessie Taylor. Miss Ramona Nelson returned home with them. Mrs Maria Lindt sister of the Brattons drove from Reinbeck to attend Agnes Brattons funeral but the car hit loose gravel near Gilmore City and overturned. Lindt dislocated a shoulder but continued to Rolfe for the funeral Monday. Peter Cramer and his daughter had only minor bruises. The Tuesday Club met with Mrs Geo Hauck. after business, Mrs B S Bryson led a word drill and Mrs M Bruce presented The Wrong Mrs Smith with a cast including Mrs Wrightson and others. The next meeting will be a one o clock luncheon at Mrs Mariar Bruce’s Tuesday May 7.
