Notable Iowa and Des Moines Political Notes and Spring Idyl
Word from friends in southern California reports plentiful rain and optimism for a strong year. The piece highlights John MacVicar’s two-year mayoral race impact, Des Moines politics, Ed Crawford’s police tenure, Senator Leslie H. Francis’s return, park superintendent hire, and Secretary of State W. C. Allen’s renomination. Also notes a South American Christmas custom, a Roosevelt preference among Des Moines veterans, and a Howells photograph in the April Century.
