Give the chicks room to profit in poultry production
Poultrymen are urged to provide one half square foot of floor space per chick up to eight weeks old and then split the flock. County Extension Director Max O. Naylor cites Iowa Demonstration Flock results showing better market birds and laying pullets with 5 to 7 pounds less feed on average. Overcrowding increases mortality and costs, reducing profits.
