Kindergarten class under Mrs. Sewell learns health habits and egg themed science. Students brush teeth checks, Easter egg dyeing, and eggs from birds turtles and fish. Mrs. Boyd leads Easter songs while students act out zoo animals and share progress with mothers.
Students describe busy week before Easter with arithmetic on multiplication, fractions in two classes, and health sound travel. They study immigration in Serial Studies, share family items, create paper mache puppets in art, and celebrate Jane Christensen's birthday. Debbie Erickson brings Easter treat.
Last Monday Mr Fisher showed slides from his trip to Russia to the sixth through eighth graders. The eighth grade studied World Wars and causes while the seventh grade memorized Iowa counties and did map work. The eighth grade explored ancient number notation and the seventh grade reviewed fractions. The Around the World unit closed for the eighth grade as the seventh grade read Our World Neighbors and started The Outdoor World. The science units covered earth and plants while English covered complex sentences and clauses. Homemaking wrapped gingham aprons and shop projects included tool chests bookshelves and fiddles. First and second graders made Easter bunnies hats dyed eggs while third and fourth graders finished paper mache puppets and learned sewing for costumes. The fifth grade class has been
Sunday visits in Rolfe include Mr and Mrs R W Lightle in Spencer and Gary Wolfe and family in Po cahontas. Easter eggshell mosaics are being made by fifth graders. Lunch menu for April 10 14 lists goulash baked beans ham hot beef sandwich spaghetti and more with milk daily.
Fritz Guderian and David of Gilmore City accompanied by Mrs. Holecek and Mrs. Oudekerk visited in Glenville and Albert Lea. Russell Ives and Janet Ives joined Maude Ives in Ames for the weekend. George Onnen and Ellig joined Christensens in Houston for the birth of a daughter March 14. Patricia Dailey of Des Moines spent Easter with Glenn Dailey. Weilands visited Dunnell. Hilton and Schott with Wil son and Firkins in Rolfe were guests.
