Pocahontas County Board Proceedings March 24 1938
Pocahontas Iowa board of supervisors met in regular session with all members present except none. Bids for gasoline were rejected and the county auditor was told to return the checks. An agreement for P J Mart rewarding no certain road tile was approved and a lease for the SW NW of section S-90-54 was approved. Several claims were allowed from the Secondary Road Maintenance and Air Drainage funds for various labor and repairs. The board adjourned until April 4. Roy A Johnson, County Auditor.

Plans to curb grasshoppers discussed at Spencer conference
The district conference at Spencer on April 14 will cover plans to combat a threatened grasshopper outbreak in Pocahontas and surrounding counties. County agents and entomology experts from state and federal offices will lead the meeting with local Farm Bureau and conservation leaders attending. Weather between hatching and after will affect the outbreak, with dry, warm conditions promoting hatching and heavy rain or cool damp weather slowing it.
