Mike Behrendsen of Rolfe shipped 26 heifers to Sioux City this week at an average weight of 744 pounds. Jerry Rickard and other Rolfe students earned basketball honors on the Twin Lakes All Conference and Second Team. Local attendees at Des Moines and Fort Dodge events, including the operetta South Pacific, are recorded along with Janet Behrendsen joining the business meeting.

Ground broken for new Lutheran church service draws crowd
About 200 people attended the March 29 1951 service as the ground was broken for the Lutheran church building. Melvin Thorson Ole Ryen and Mads Johansen were among those taking part. Jean Schonberger of Rolfe was elected secretary of the state rural youth organization at the Ames assembly March 16 to 18. The Busy Bees met March 17.

A Wednesday farewell dance in Bradgate IOOF hall honored Dale Burris who leaves Friday for a year of military service. Geraldine Cleaver of Anita wrote a song titled Dreaming Of You gaining radio traction. Lizard Lake Resort in Laurens was purchased by Eggspuehler Amusement Co and will open May 1 with Friday dances all summer. Roberta Kennedy and Mary Graves won Rolfe school spelling contest and advance to the county competition.

Fifty years ago this Thursday March 31 1921 Mr and Mrs J T Grant and son Forrest motor to Fort Dodge last Saturday taking three hours through the mud. Mail boxes installed at Sandy Street intersections eliminate town trips to mail letters. Rolfe School music praised after weekend performance. The old green bomber returns to life signaling spring after a fall layoff. A gallon of gasoline and a charged battery make it road worthy. Children amused by the moving car shout April Fools Day wishes.
Chaos 71 shines as Rolfe School groups receive ovation
The Rolfe School music department earns a standing ovation for Chaos 71. Director James Watson and the Stage Band Swing Choir plus several groups deliver a lively performance. Milk and Honey from the University of Nebraska joined with polished singers and instrumentalists for additional numbers.
