County Agent Urges Legume Seed Inoculation For Higher Yields
County Agent Schmuecker says inoculating legume seeds pays big dividends with doubled or tripled yields in many cases. He cites red clover tests from Cornell showing 39 percent more dry weight on lined soil and 32.2 percent on unlined soil, and warns that permanent inoculation is a misconception costly to farmers. Only a few cents per acre for inoculation, he notes, justifies the practice.
