Grass feeding could cost about 1.20 dollars per day per cow under 200 grazing days per year at one cow per acre, with yields and fertilization included. Even with some concentrates, costs stay under 18 cents daily, boosting potential butterfat by at least five cents per pound.

Daughters’ records relate more to sisters than to dam, fall freshening boosts fat, and a surplus with weak demand prompts tighter culling and efficient feeding and labor in dairy herds.
