Railroads Told to Post Train Times in Iowa Stations

Fire at Waterloo causes vast losses in city
A major Waterloo fire began Saturday night in the United States Express company basement and spread through adjacent buildings. Total losses exceed $110,000 with three injured, one fatally. Holzer owned structures include the Express building and Hanlon Towne funeral parlor. Black Dry Goods, Martin Bros., and Waterloo Fruit and Commission suffered heavy damage. Rain and calm winds aided firefighting.

Harry A. Faber a 22 year old single millinery traveler from Keokuk Iowa shot himself on the Keokuk and Western railroad track in Clarinda after receiving a letter that his betrothed would break their engagement. He was observed walking the track at 8 pm and died from three gunshot wounds to the breast.

Train Collides With Buggy. Mrs Balsinger Killed
Sioux City July 26 A day passenger train from St Paul to Sioux City crashed into a buggy driven by Mrs John Balsinger near LeMars. She was the sole occupant and killed instantly as rain and wind reduced visibility on a grade crossing. Mrs Balsinger, formerly a trained nurse, lived near LeMars.
