Rock Island Train Wreck Claims Two Lives in Iowa
Des Moines reports a Rock Island train wreck near Victor twenty miles west of Marengo after a boiler explosion at speed. Engineer William Williams and Fireman Wilbur Hoar, both of Rock Island, were killed. The 100 ton No. 1413 locomotive and six sleepers and coaches derailed, with no passengers injured. Baggageman Shaffer and two porters suffered bruises.
