Announcement invites buyers or renters to Ark State Valley as population grows. Prospective residents from existing districts visit the valley to assess fields and ditches and to attract capable farmers to relocate. Efforts aim to secure a community of productive husbandmen.
Denver News summarizes results from fifty-one of Colorado’s fifty-seven counties as of Thursday reports. Many counties show party splits and fusion votes, with totals listing Republicans or Democrats per county, plus a few fusion and populist indications.
Washington reports the Sehley court of inquiry climaxed with Mr Rayner chief counsel delivering a three hour peroration praising Admiral Schley. He depicted the Brooklyn and Oregon victory amid persecution and urged posterity to judge with divine Providence guiding the verdict. The audience shed tears and applauded as Dewey and Lehly joined in congratulating Schley and Rayner.
A Salida report states work has begun on a large smelting and refining plant to be independent of trusts. The Ohio and Colorado Smelting and Refining Company aims for 800 tons daily and will use an 80 acre site two miles from Salida’s business center with a spur line under construction. Directors include J C Corts and H G Reddington with Timothy Goodwin named general manager.
The jury found Grant Crumley not guilty in the murder of Sam Strong at Newport saloon. Judge Leeds instructed the jurors after their verdict and Crumley was discharged. Prosecutor Crowell argued for acquittal highlighting alleged gambling protection, Dr Stimson urged the state case, while defense and state counsel shared respectful closings.
