About 100 miners seized his cart disarmed guards then forced him to vow never to return and to accept an eight hour shift. They claim he sought nine hours and threaten plant closures if demands continued.

Injured in Snow Plow Wreck Near Breckenridge

A heavy snow fall on the South Park road caused a rotary snow plow and its engine to plunge 150 feet down a hill near Baker's tank eight miles east of Breckenridge. Three men were badly hurt while two engineers escaped. Convict Cordello was killed and four others injured by a powder blast on a state ditch. Coroner ruled the explosion unavoidable.

Penitentiary Report Highlights Colorado Prison Stock

The annual Colorado penitentiary report shows 564 prisoners now confined, down from 647 the prior year. During the year 214 were released, 9 by commutation, 3 by escapes, 75 to Buena Vista reform school, 2 died, 3 by court orders. 248 men and 18 women were sent to Canon City. Forty seven pardons issued. Funds running low due to unexpected drains.

Fort Morgan canal transfer to farmers approved

At a Fort Morgan public meeting farmers elected a new board and accepted the transfer of the Fort Morgan canal from The Travellers Insurance Company. The canal proved unprofitable under Travelers, and the move promises improved service at lower cost with deferred water-right payments going to the new company.
