Santa Fe Line Praised by Missouri Inspectors
The Missouri railroad and warehouse inspectors report the Santa Fe line in top physical condition after an October 7 inspection. They laud clean rights of way, solid embankments, and well maintained depots and stock pens, while noting track ballast and some ballast material improvements. They praise bridges, depots, and fencing and call the line among Missouri's best, with a warning against trespassers and a notice of sale by the Enterprise Office.

Christmas Day Shootings At Ogborn and Allen’s Restaurant
Four shots rang out at Ogborn and Allen’s on Christmas Day when three men dining with a fourth visitor clashed after a waiter left the front room. Robert Mitchell was arrested as Nate Nelson lay wounded with a bullet through the back near the spine, splintering a rib and damaging the spleen. Doctor Fenton treated Nelson at his boarding house, but fatal recovery seemed unlikely. Mitchell and another man were taken into custody as the wounded man was moved to Dawley’s parlors for relatives’ directions.
