Rockport Beats Hatfield In Close Spencer County Battle

Painful Injury In Washington Street Shop
Charles Wilbern fell over timbers in his Washington street shop Monday night and injured his face. He tripped on work trestles left in the gang way, struck his mouth on a trestle corner, breaking one tooth and loosening several others with a deep tongue gash. Dr Weiss treated the wound but stitches to the tongue were not endured.

Reunion of the 65th Indiana reg iment survivors
A reunion of the survivors of the 65th Indiana regiment was held Monday at Abe Wright's home five miles west of the city. The day was ideal and a large number of veterans from the 65th and other regiments attended. Addresses were delivered by Revs Bryan and Gulledge. Neighbors aided in entertaining and feeding the guests.

The Chickasha Express reports Oatley Anderson and Sid Anderson, formerly seeking fortunes in the southwest, have rented the McKay building on Chickasha avenue between 4th and 5th streets. They signed a five year lease, occupy a 50 by 100 foot space with a basement, cement floors, and an elevator connecting three floors. They plan a large, up-to-date furniture store with expanded stock, plus their Hobart operation.

The September term of the circuit court will adjourn next Saturday and reconvene November 4 for six weeks. Judges heard cases including divorce grants, notes and mortgage actions, and multiple indictments. The grand jury reported 18 indictments after four days, with 38 witnesses examined and visits to county farm, orphan's home, and county jail revealing poor outbuildings at the jail and courthouse.

Tragic Death of Rev Guard's Three-Year-Old Daughter
Elizabeth Guard, daughter of Rev and Mrs W N Guard, died in Urbana Ohio after falling ill. The child was one of twins. a surviving boy twin remains. The Guards lived five years in Rockport and had many friends here who mourn with them.

Walter J. Jones died at 1 45 am last Monday at his Saminary street home after a brief illness from Brights disease. He was 49, a Rockport resident for three years, formerly of Gentryville, and survived by a wife a son a brother and a sister. He belonged to Modern Woodmen and worked in the produce business. Funeral services were held at the M E church in Gentryville conducted by Rev R R Bryan with burial in Gentryville cemetery.
