Teachers Institute Draws 150 Educators in Rockport
The Spencer County Teachers Institute met at the M. and church in Rockport with 150 teachers in attendance. Notable instructors included Mrs. E. E. Olcott Prof. Thos. Gibson Prof. Richard Park and Assistant State Fire Marshal Alr. Feldthaus. They discussed phonics calisthenics music and wartime education demands as well as leadership and discipline in teaching. Wm. Carter his wife and children were bruised but escaped serious harm when their car tire blew out near Shiloh last Saturday. The vehicle ran into a bridge banister and overturned but all occupants sustained only minor injuries.

Evansville-Rockport Traction seeks coal freight rate hike
The Evansville-Rockport Traction requests a 10 cent per ton increase before the Public Service Commission of Indianapolis. If approved the rate would rise from 60 cents to about 8 cents a bushel. Historical coal shipments from local counties once moved at 2 cents a bushel. Hearing date not yet set.
