Rockport Schools to Open Monday After Labor Day

Rockport schools will open Monday September 15. New pupils and high school students must meet the superintendent before opening to arrange classifications. The superintendent will be in his office 3 to 5 p.m. daily the week before opening.

William Rashall and Louis Kisnon plead guilty in highway robbery

Circuit court proceedings report William Rashall and Louis Kisnon pled guilty to highway robbery. Both were disenfranchised for ten years and sentenced to the reformatory for five to ten years. they were 13 years old. Other cases include guardianship petitions and divorce suits. tax and budget actions were noted but deferred due to incomplete assessment rolls.

Two Teens Convicted in Bretz Farm Robbery Case

William Rashall and Louis Kichen, both eighteen, confessed to holding up Charles Bess near the Bretz farm last Thursday and were sentenced to the reform school. The pair, from St Louis, also robbed Jacob Sawyerinski and forced him to drive to the city limits. The incident occurred about 4 PM with weapons brandished and demands made before fleeing with the victim’s money and machine.

Miss Eutha Kopp Weds J Morley Nutting in Elm Street Home

Miss Eutha Kopp and Mgr J Morley Nutting married quietly last Sunday at the bride’s Elm Street home. Rev M Robbins officiated before close family. The bride, daughter of Mr and Mrs Daniel Kopp, taught in Fort Recovery and Harrisburg high schools. The groom, recently returned from France service, is an Oberlin and Pennsylvania State College graduate who taught at the latter before enlistment. They plan a northern wedding journey and will reside in Chalmers Indiana after November first. Relatives from Cleveland and Chalmers attended.

Physicians Weiss Move from Rockport to Evansville

Dr H G and Mrs Weiss moved to Evansville where he will continue medicine. He plans to work in a sanitarium and will have an office over the Evans Dry Goods store on Main Street while the family resides at 809 Adams Avenue. He practiced in Rockport sixteen years and previously at Lamar. They leave a fine practice and a well regarded family, with friends regretting their departure.

The fifty fourth annual Spencer County Teachers Institute begins at 10 30 Monday morning September 8 at Rockport Methodist church.
