McClure is favored to capture the speakership as pledges and early support build around Ander son legistator and other lawmakers eyeing the top House post in a crowded field.
Warren J. McCray of Indianapolis weighs potential candidates for Indiana House speaker with favor toward a candidate who supports his legislative program. Names include Miltenberger Harris Davis Smith Given Abrams Newman and strongly hints at John P. McClure of Anderson, though no final decision made. Also notes a push from Anderson politicians for McClure.
The Spencer county Anti Tuberculosis group offers three prizes for health motto submissions. Submissions must be suitable for display in school rooms and received by December 10 1920.
In the year 170 on the November 78th day the Kioites held a banquet with Rootes acclaiming the plan. Anna invited all to her fireside as Isstner and Thelma bid farewell before journeys to distant fields and two toasts named Roys Ruin and Bennys Banquet were read.
The Literary department of the Woman's club met Wednesday at Mrs. George Steitler's home. Leader Mrs. Margaret Armstrong spoke on Poe's Tales, detailing Poe's life and temperament and his unusual genius. Assistants Mrs. Louis Wiener Mrs. L. B. Wilkinson and Mrs. K. C. Atchinson presented prose and poetry examples, followed by a lively round table discussion.
A surprise dinner by Mr. and Mrs. Lincoln Morris marked their 38th wedding anniversary. Thirty-six relatives and friends gathered at their home for a noon meal before attending church. The day featured music and social time as guests extended wishes for many more happy anniversaries.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Parr moved to Rockport this week from near Lynville, Warrick county, and occupy the recently purchased home on Third street. Mr. Parr is employed at a building job there for R. W. Richards.

Jeffersonville reports the Socialist party of Louisville is defendant in a Clark Circuit suit to quiet title. George Schreiber of California and Mary Scribner of Chicago claim ownership of Clarksville land on Camp Joe Holt site valued around $600. The case questions if a real estate title can pass to a political party by will. Albert Schreiber, a party member, died five years ago in Bloomington leaving the land to the three parties.
Indiana entomologist Frank N. Wallace warns that chinch bugs are preparing to hibernate and threaten wheat and corn next year. He notes refuges in grass along fences and ditches and fodder shocks, advises burning or drying grass, shucking corn early, and feeding fodder to stock to reduce numbers.
A 23-year-old man, Amon Groves, was seriously wounded when his own gun discharged while he rested it against a fence during a hunting trip with five companions. The hammer was knocked off when a 4 rail fence broke as he climbed it. He was found unconscious, later regained consciousness, and is hospitalized at Taylor Bufkin's home in a very grave condition.
The Victor Talking Machine is advertised as par excellence with a range of Victrolas from 25 to 150 dollars. Machines priced at 250 dollars are claimed inferior to their 150 dollar model. Victor records are offered at eighty five cents and touted as best value.
Mrs James Rininger daughter of Mr and Mrs Niram Winchell died Monday at 8 oclock. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 oclock at the U B church. She was 27 years old.
Charles Schaaf of Dale was in the city Wednesday on business.
Proceedings in circuit court recite a divorce suit filed by Meyer against Hatue Meyer stating they wed in New Albany Indiana in December 1919 and separated February 1910 after ninety days due to quarrels and lack of affection.
Mr and Mrs A L Robinson entertained guests Monday evening with a dancing party attended by Mr and Mrs L C Smith, Mr and Mrs W W Spain, Mr and Mrs wm Wetzel, Mr and Mrs Paul Serrin, Mr and Mrs Dailey Sargenty and Mr and Mrs Fred Rimstidt.
The Rockport high girls basketball team opened the year with a 16 to 2 victory over Dale high school at Dale. R. H. 8 led Rockport with the early rally and defensive effort set the tone for the game.
Luce township Homemaker's Club met at Hatfield school house on Saturday November 20. Members heard a health program, voted a premium for seventh and eighth grade sewing, and agreed to join the State Home Economics Association. Members discussed dress and hygienic clothing in disease prevention, with demonstrations on school lunch and sanitation.
Mrs. Alice Rudisell aged 66 years 11 months and 11 days died at her home near Mt Zion Friday. Survived by twelve sons and one daughter. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at Mt Zion church.
